BOSTON (CBS) – More than 2,600 people showed up at Fenway Park on Saturday to take part in the 5th annual Run to Home Base.

The walk/run starts outside of Fenway Park, loops through Back Bay, and ends inside the ballpark. More than 500 active service members take part.

The 2004, 2007 and 2013 World Series trophies, as well as retired Red Sox Luis Tiant and Sam Horn were all on hand for photos.

The event benefits the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Home Base Program, which provides extensive services for post 9/11 veterans and their families, including care for physical injuries, post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury.

It has raised more than $11 million over the past five years. In that time, Home Base has provided treatment to more than 1,000 veterans and their families.

Boston-based New Balance sponsored the event. They are also an official military apparel and footwear provider.
